| This beautifully maintained car is finished in the most appropriate of all colours for a sporting Bentley, Sherwood Green, with unmarked (an overused expression but in this case entirely accurate) sandstone hide upholstery. It has covered just 56,000 miles from new and comes with a Full Service History, fully stamped up in the service book and many bills evidencing maintenance work carried out over the years, most recently during the last ownership at Broughtons of Cheltenham, main RR/Bentley agents for the South West. It retains the original set of three keys and all manuals as well as the original sales brochure. The cherished number plate presently on the car is included in the sale. The Brooklands R special edition was introduced in 1996 and limited to just 100 cars making it instantly a future collectors item. All used the long wheel base RL version of the Turbo R range. The model was equipped with twin turbochargers giving an output of 350 BHP and a whopping 420 lb/ft of torque, sufficient to power the 2.3 ton vehicle to 150 mph and a 0-60mph time of 6.7 seconds. As with all Turbo R's, the suspension is considerably firmer than the less powerful models. Other unique features to the Brooklands R range include the chrome wire mesh sports grille, 18" alloy whells fitted with 285/45 low profile tyres, wingside air intakes and enlarged exhaust tailpipe. They also feature as standard the optional centre floor-console mounted gear lever. Each car has its production number from 1 to 100 displayed on a plaque on the dashboard. In essence, a superbly maintained and rare example of the last of the 'old style' Bentleys from the decades long association with Rolls- Royce before the break-up of these two great marques and their incorporation into more modern and perhaps technically more advanced mass production manufacturing groups whose new offerings have inevitably lost some of the uniqueness of the former models. A very good opportunity at the asking price of £21,990.
